In Heroes We Trust
In Heroes We Trust is a collaborative art, style, design, and experiential company lead by creative producer and fashion designer Neely Shearer. Our name In Heroes We Trust was inspired by all the courageous independents: designers, artists, risk-takers, David Bowie.
We're passionate about creating beauty and joy, and gathering community, We form synergistic partnerships with brands, companies, art fairs, and music festivals (i.e. Governors Ball NY, KAABOO, WeWork) and love curating art shows, dance parties, fashion photoshoots, and street art mural installations.
In 2014 we opened our designer + vintage shop and gallery in Venice Beach. The space at Abbott Kinney Blvd. was a social and creative hub in the neighborhood —hosting art and comedy shows, tea ceremonies, and spontaneous salon gatherings. A favorite eve was a book launch signing for our friend legendary photographer Guy Webster, with the Venice Motorcycle Club crew taking over the front of the shop to show their support.
Neely concepted and curated the book In Heroes We Trust: Street Artists and Their Heroes featuring 60 international street artists musing on their Heroes, with a foreword by “The Godfather of Street Art” Ron English and preface by “Pioneer in French Graffiti” Jef Aerosol in 2016.
In Heroes We Trust opened pop-up gallery + artist residency creative space in DTLA in 2019. The Streets Are Queer, a show curated with street artist Homo Riot with events at The Tom of Finland Foundation, and an exclusive print signing with street art legends Risk and Seen were some highlights during the pop-up.
Neely's been in the fashion, art, event, strategic partnerships, and client relations industry most of her life. She has a degree from the School of Journalism/Advertising from SDSU, and was a top sales account executive in her early career. Neely’s published magazines, and started a clothing company and travel business in Japan. Since 1995 she’s curated her own boutiques and galleries in Japan, West Hollywood (Xin 1999-2009)) and Venice Beach, DTLA, Weho (all IHWT). The designs for her clothing brand Issho (1998-2009) won her the GenArt Fresh Faces Award in 2005, and were sold at some of the top retailers worldwide such as Barney’s NY, Holt Renfrew, Fred Segal, and Isetan Japan.
